Cass County, ND – A late-night crash in the Fargo metro area has prompted authorities to ask for the public’s help in locating a driver who fled the scene Thursday night.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on April 26 at the intersection of Highway 46 and 157th Avenue SE, a rural area south of Fargo near Kindred. Investigators say a Ford Escape traveling southbound failed to stop at a posted stop sign, crossed Highway 46, and crashed into a field after breaking through a barbed wire fence.

Officials reported that the driver exited the vehicle, then re-entered and drove away through the field, heading southbound on 155th Avenue SE. A witness described the vehicle as a white Ford Escape with visible front-end damage.

Law enforcement officers responded quickly and searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the vehicle or driver. Evidence collected at the scene included debris and a paper dealer plate, which may assist in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities noted the vehicle likely has significant front-end damage and may still have barbed wire hanging from it. The driver’s condition and identity remain unknown.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to contact them at 701-328-2447 or by email. If the vehicle is spotted, residents are urged to call 911 immediately and avoid approaching it.

The crash remains under investigation.
