Logansport, IN – A 32-year-old Logansport man died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Cass County. Derek Oldham was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta when he lost control on County Road 1000 West near County Road 200 North, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 1:14 a.m. on Sunday, with the Cass County Central Dispatch receiving an automatic crash alert from a cellphone. Emergency responders, including Georgetown Fire Department, Cass County Emergency Medical Services, and the Idaville Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows that Oldham’s car left the roadway, struck an embankment, and rolled over. He was ejected from the vehicle. A passing motorist discovered Oldham in the roadway and initiated first aid before contacting authorities.
Emergency responders pronounced Oldham dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
