Detroit, MI – Toyota is recalling over 50,000 vehicles due to a brake failure risk that could lead to crashes. Toyota’s recall includes 41,000 Corolla Cross Hybrid models in the U.S., with the remaining 9,000 across North America.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue causes sudden braking during turns, which increases stopping distance and the likelihood of an accident. Toyota urged affected vehicle owners to visit dealerships for a free software update. Notices will be sent by late November.
In recent months, Toyota has also recalled millions of RAV4 hybrids due to fire risks, alongside other models with various safety defects. The NHTSA recommends all car owners regularly check their vehicles for recalls using its VIN lookup tool to ensure their cars are safe for the road.
