Eureka, California – Strong, gusty winds will continue through Sunday, with peak gusts ranging from 25 to 30 mph across much of the area. However, the National Weather Service is warning of stronger gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph in coastal headlands and ridge areas.

According to the NWS, the winds will pick up significantly throughout the day, with the strongest gusts expected to affect areas like Crescent City, Eureka, and Fort Bragg. The high winds will increase the risk of tree debris on roadways, which could lead to dangerous driving conditions, particularly on elevated roads and coastal ridges. Travelers are urged to be cautious when driving, especially in crosswinds.

The gusts will persist through the evening and into Sunday night, possibly affecting the early part of next week. In addition to difficult driving conditions, the NWS advises securing loose outdoor property, as flying debris could cause damage.

Stay updated on changing conditions, and take necessary precautions to stay safe through Sunday.
