Aurora, IL – A 20-year-old Aurora woman faces multiple charges for her role in a July 24 crash that killed a local man.

Ailisa Gutierrez, of the 1700 block of Daisy St., was charged with reckless homicide, aggravated street racing, and other offenses. Investigators say she raced a motorcycle at speeds over 100 mph on E. New York Street. Around 8:40 p.m., Gutierrez made a sudden lane change, struck a curb, and lost control of her Dodge Challenger. The vehicle collided with three cars at a red light before rolling over several times.

Gerardo Cuatzo, 45, died at the scene, and two others were injured.

Authorities issued a warrant for Gutierrez on November 11, and she was arrested November 20. She was released after a pretrial hearing and will appear in court December 18.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin expressed condolences to the Cuatzo family. Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross emphasized the dangers of reckless driving.

Gutierrez is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
