Chicago, IL – A 20-year-old man has been charged with multiple allegations of first-degree murder in connection with a fatal expressway shooting in Chicago. Sean Richardson was arrested by Chicago police on August 19, 2024, and later charged by the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation.
The shooting occurred on February 19, 2023, on Interstate 57 near 116th Street. Troopers arriving at the scene found two males deceased in a vehicle, with three other juveniles wounded. One of the injured juveniles, a 2-year-old, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to the Illinois State Police, Richardson was identified as a suspect after an extensive investigation. The charges, which include three alleged counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, were presented to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Richardson remains in custody pending his first court appearance.
