Hastings, NE – A stretch of warm, summer-like weather is expected across central Nebraska this week, with temperatures climbing into the 90s before storm chances return later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, highs will range from the upper 70s Tuesday into the mid-90s by Thursday and Friday, bringing the warmest conditions of the week to south central Nebraska.

Forecasters say Tuesday will remain mild with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s, followed by a gradual warming trend into Wednesday. By Thursday, temperatures are expected to peak between the mid-80s and mid-90s, with breezy southerly winds.

Rain and thunderstorm chances are expected to return beginning Thursday afternoon, with probabilities ranging from 15% to near 40% through the end of the week. Additional chances for storms may continue into Saturday as the pattern remains unsettled.

Friday and Saturday are expected to stay warm, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, along with periodic storm chances.

Officials encourage residents to stay weather-aware later this week, especially with changing conditions that could bring thunderstorms after several days of dry and warm weather.
