Indiana – Two individuals are facing charges after Indiana conservation officers say they illegally hunted wild turkeys on private property.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement, officers responded to a tip from a landowner regarding suspected trespassing. The investigation led officers to locate two individuals accused of taking three wild turkeys from the property without permission.
Authorities say the animals included two adult male turkeys and one hen. Both individuals were cited for illegal taking of a turkey and hunting without the consent of the landowner.
Officials emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The DNR says the case highlights the importance of following hunting regulations and respecting private property boundaries. Conservation officers regularly investigate reports of poaching and unlawful hunting activity across the state.
Residents are encouraged to report suspected violations through the Indiana Turn In a Poacher (TIP) program. Tips can be submitted by phone or online to help protect wildlife resources.
Officials say community reporting plays a key role in identifying illegal activity and preserving Indiana’s natural resources.
