Kinderhook, IL – A Pike County woman is facing multiple felony charges following a reported domestic disturbance and alleged kidnapping incident earlier this week.
According to the Pike County Illinois Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 5:44 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, to a residence in the 100 block of Van Buren Street in Kinderhook. Authorities say the investigation determined that Marissa D. Lawson, 37, of Barry, Illinois, allegedly entered the home unlawfully and physically assaulted a family member.
Investigators further allege that during the incident, Lawson removed children from the residence without legal custody and fled the state. The children’s condition has not been detailed, and authorities have not released additional identifying information.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lawson was later located in Monroe City, Missouri. It is unclear how long she remained out of state before being found.
As a result of the investigation, Lawson has been charged with home invasion, residential burglary, aggravated battery involving a person over 60 years old, and aggravated kidnapping.
Officials say the case remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as it becomes available.
Lawson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
