Wheaton, IL – A DuPage County judge has ordered a Clarendon Hills woman held pretrial following allegations she led police on a high-speed chase and assaulted officers during her arrest.

According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Sheriff James Mendrick, the incident began around 9:46 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, near 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road. Deputies were responding to a reported crash when investigators say the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Aviance Carson, allegedly struck another vehicle and left the scene.

Authorities allege that when officers later located Carson and attempted a traffic stop, she refused to exit her vehicle, reversed toward officers, and then struck a squad car. Prosecutors say Carson then fled northbound on Clarendon Hills Road, reaching speeds of approximately 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

According to officials, the pursuit ended near an apartment complex on 58th Street, where Carson allegedly attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody. During the arrest, she allegedly resisted and bit and kicked officers.

Carson faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery to a government employee and aggravated fleeing and eluding. A judge granted the state’s request to detain her pending trial. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 1.

Officials note this is one of several recent fleeing cases in DuPage County, with multiple arrests reported over a three-day period.
