Orland Park, IL – The investigation continues after a pedestrian was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Monday near Orland Square Mall, according to the Orland Park Police Department.
According to the Orland Park Police Department, officers responded Monday to a serious traffic crash at the intersection of 149th Street and La Grange Road, directly in front of Orland Square Mall. The collision involved four vehicles and a pedestrian.
Authorities said the pedestrian was struck during the crash and died from their injuries.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while police conducted an extensive on-scene investigation and traffic reconstruction. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Investigators have not released the identity of the victim, nor have they disclosed what led to the crash. Officials said no additional information is available at this time as the investigation remains active.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Orland Park Police Chief Brian Rossi extended condolences to the victim’s family and said officers continue to work alongside partner agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
“We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation,” Rossi said, while encouraging residents to rely on official village and police communications for verified updates.
Sergeant Casey Wall has been identified as the department’s sole point of contact for information related to the investigation. Police said additional updates will be released through the Orland Park Police Department’s official channels as they become available.
