Miami, FL – Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected across interior South Florida this afternoon, with the potential for isolated strong wind gusts, especially near the Lake Okeechobee region.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, storms are forecast to develop between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, driven largely by sea-breeze activity. Areas at greatest risk include communities around Lake Okeechobee, as well as parts of Glades, Hendry, and western Palm Beach counties.

Forecasters say there is a marginal risk—Level 1 out of 5—for strong to potentially damaging wind gusts in these المناطق. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated storms could still produce hazardous conditions.

Rainfall totals are generally expected to range between 0.5 and 1 inch across the Everglades and interior sections, though localized downpours could bring between 2 and 3 inches in stronger cells.

In addition to gusty winds, storms may also produce frequent lightning and small hail. Officials warn that strong outflow winds could create erratic fire behavior in any active wildfire areas.

Drivers and outdoor workers across South Florida, including the Miami metro and inland communities, are advised to remain weather-aware this afternoon and evening. Brief heavy rain may reduce visibility on roadways, and lightning poses a risk to anyone outdoors.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and seek shelter if storms approach.
