Kankakee Mayor Wells-Armstrong is partnering with local area grocery stores to host a food drive for Kankakee County Community Services, Inc (KCCSI) beginning May 15th.
“Hunger does not take a vacation, especially during a pandemic. We will continue to help those in the community,” said Executive Director, Vincent Clark.
Collection efforts for non-perishable food items will take place from May 15th to June 5th at Jewel-Osco and Berkot’s in Kankakee daily. Collection bins will be placed in the entryway of each building.
“I would like to thank Jewel-Osco and Berkot’s Super Foods for partnering with the City of Kankakee during this critical time. I am encouraging everyone that is in a position to support this effort to do so. Every item helps and thinking about those in need while grocery shopping will be greatly appreciated,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
KCCSI will accept dairy products and meat donations, any such need to be arranged for drop off at the KCCSI location at 657 East Court Street anytime between 8 am and 4 pm. KCCSI asks for a phone in advance for drop off donations at 815-933-7883 ext 212.
