COVID-19: Will County climbs past 1,500 cases, 92 deaths

Will County Health Department officials have seen COVID-19 cases counts climb past 1,500 cases today, now standing at 1,567 total cases with 92 deaths.

Over 27% of all deaths due to COVID-19 have been associated with Illinois nursing homes.  This past week it was announced 23 people associated with the Symphony nursing home of Joliet had died from symptoms brought on by COVID-19. 

During a City of Joliet press conference it was announced 118 Stateville Prisoners and 70 Department of Corrections officers had been infected with the disease.  The National Guard remains on campus assisting in the relief effort.

To date, 772 men and 795 women have been infected ranging in ages 5 to over 100 years old.  Among town case counts in the County, notable numbers include:

  • 384 cases in Joliet
  • 160 cases in Bolingbrook
  • 128 cases in Naperville
  • 102 cases in Romeoville 
  • 74 cases in Lockport
  • 73 cases in Shorewood
  • 63 cases in Homer Glen
  • 58 cases in Frankfort 
  • 57 cases in Crete
  • 49 cases in Plainfield 
  • 46 cases in University Park
  • 41 cases in New Lenox
  • 40 cases in Mokena
  • 29 cases in Monee
  • 22 cases in Beecher
  • 16 cases in Manhattan
  • 9 cases in Peotone
  • 8 cases in Wilmington
