Residential Senior Snow Removal Program Returns for 2019-20

The City of Joliet is once again offering snow removal assistance this winter to City of Joliet residents 65 years or older, or a person with a doctor verified disability. The program is designed to make it easier for seniors and persons with disabilities to leave their homes for necessities such as picking up prescriptions or groceries and getting to medical appointments by providing snow removal from paved driveways and service sidewalks at their homes. This program is restricted to single family homes only. Funds are limited and other requirements may apply.

DOWNTOWN ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 9, 2019

JOLIET-North Benton Street, between Scott and Ottawa streets, will be closed beginning on Monday, September 9, 2019. The road closure on north Benton Street is expected to last approximately two days.

“We Count 2020” Census Campaign Kick-Off Event

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will provide an opening keynote address on the importance of getting a complete count for the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. The event will also feature a presentation by the U.S. Census Bureau on the basics of the 2020 U.S. Census, and by the Spanish Community Center on outreach efforts to hard-to-count populations of the community.

Mayor of Joliet Hosts Town Hall Meeting

Mayor of Joliet Bob O’Dekirk will host a town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the VFW Cantigny Post, 826 Horseshoe Dr. in order to discuss the recent wave of violence on the city’s west side. City Officials wish to have an open dialogue with residents and answer any questions regarding the issues at hand. The Mayor will be accompanied by other members of the City Council, Police Chief Al Roechner and command staff members of the Joliet Police Department.
