Fortitude is a homeless outreach program who seek to help the neediest in our community by partnering with local churches and agencies to deliver food, clothing, information and moreon a weekly basis.Each month, the Kankakee Public Library will have a donation that targets specific items to donate to help others within the community. January’s item is quality adult-sized gloves.Fortitude is asking for sturdy gloves, not the knit kind, that can withstand very cold temperatures.

Kankakee, IL – Invisible Fence donated five life-saving pet oxygen masks to the Kankakee Fire Department in order to help reduce the number of pet fatalities. Since 2006, more than 25,000 masks have been donated. Resulting from the company’s efforts, more than three million lives improved, including pets who were saved through the Project Breathe Program.
“Every activity we sponsored promoted the theme of ‘Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society,’” said Dr. Kristine Condon, KCC professor and Paralegal/Legal Assistant program coordinator. “From our panel discussion on Michael Beschloss’ ‘Presidents of War’ with presidential grandson Clifton Truman Daniel to our sponsorship of the Illinois Appellate Court hearing oral arguments at our historic Kankakee courthouse, we had a variety of family-friendly activities that promoted civics engagement.”
“This past year, I hosted two roundtables to hear the ideas of the 79th District to make Illinois better. One before the Spring Session and the other before Veto Session. These ideas turned into bills in the General Assembly in the past. I am happy to reach out once again to hear ideas directly from the 79th District,” Rep. Parkhurst said.
