Gamestop confirmed yesterday during an earnings call the company would close between 180-200 of their underperforming stores here in the U.S.

The company has nearly 6,000 stores here in the United States and over fifty in a fifty-mile radius of Kankakee County alone with its closest location the store in the Bradley Commons off Route 50 in Bradley.

Last August the company laid off around 200 employees across various divisions of the store with a layoff of 120 corporate staff positions to follow just a few weeks later.

Various reports from disgruntled employees and those in management at the company have circulated remaining stores will see significant changes soon, with more of a focus on the experience of retro and tabletop gaming coming to light. In the past few years, the company has shifted its offerings by selling collectibles and action figures and recently partnered with ThinkGeek in 2015 to bring more of an emphasis to the world of collectibles.
