Illinois–Iowa – Rain streaks across windshields and wind gusts begin to shove vehicles sideways, creating hazardous travel across the Quad Cities as conditions intensify this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from early afternoon through evening, with south winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph expected. Thunderstorms are also developing, with the potential for small hail and locally heavy rain.

Across Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Bettendorf, roads like I-80, I-74, and Highway 61 will quickly turn slick during heavier downpours. Gusty crosswinds may impact high-profile vehicles, especially on bridges over the Mississippi River. Loose debris could blow into travel lanes, adding sudden hazards.

Meteorologists now tracking a more active pattern into Friday. Storm chances increase again, and some storms could become severe with damaging winds and hail. Repeated rainfall may lead to ponding and localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and urban streets.

Conditions begin to settle into the first weekend of April. Saturday turns cooler with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 50s. By Sunday, sunshine returns with calmer conditions, offering a break from the storm pattern.

Looking ahead, early next week trends mild with highs climbing into the 50s and 60s under partly sunny skies. However, occasional rain chances could return by midweek as spring remains active.

Travel conditions can change quickly today. Are winds picking up or rain getting heavier where you are?
