Peoria, IL – A 15-year-old has been arrested following an alleged attempted armed robbery involving a 74-year-old man Friday evening in Peoria, while a second juvenile was released to a parent.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded at approximately 5:23 p.m. Friday, July 10, to the 2200 block of North Knoxville Avenue after receiving a report of an attempted armed robbery.

Investigators said two juvenile suspects allegedly attempted to rob a 74-year-old man, and one of the suspects was reportedly armed with a weapon. The victim told officers that no property was taken, and there was no physical contact during the incident.

While investigating, officers observed two juveniles matching the suspects’ descriptions running from the area. Police pursued the pair on foot and took both juveniles into custody after a brief chase. Authorities said no weapon was recovered during the investigation.

Following interviews, the 15-year-old was arrested on allegations of attempted armed robbery and obstructing a police officer before being transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

The 13-year-old was later released into the custody of a parent, according to police.
