Macon, GA – Southbound Interstate 75 is closed in Monroe County following a major multi-vehicle crash involving passenger vehicles and semi-trucks, causing significant traffic disruptions Monday evening.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Interstate 75 southbound between mile markers 183 and 181, just north of Forsyth. Preliminary information indicates the collision involved six passenger vehicles and two semi-trucks.

Officials said one of the semi-trucks overturned, and emergency crews are working to free an entrapped occupant. The extent of injuries has not yet been released.

Authorities have shut down all southbound lanes in the affected area while first responders assist those involved and crews work to clear the wreckage. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes if possible.

As of the latest update, officials have not provided an estimated time for when Interstate 75 southbound will reopen.
