Little Rock, Arkansas – Temperatures are climbing rapidly across Arkansas, with near-record heat expected to peak this weekend and push many cities into the 90s, creating unusually hot conditions for mid-March.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, highs Saturday will reach the upper 80s to low 90s statewide, with Little Rock near 89 degrees and Russellville climbing to 91 degrees. Several locations, including Harrison and Hot Springs, could tie or exceed daily records.

The heat intensifies Sunday, when Little Rock is expected to hit 91 degrees, while North Little Rock could surge to 92 degrees—nearly 9 degrees above the standing record. Cities such as Conway and Russellville may reach 93 degrees, placing multiple long-standing records at risk.

The hottest conditions will stretch from central Arkansas into the Arkansas River Valley, impacting travel, outdoor events, and increasing early-season heat stress. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable individuals.

Dry weather will persist through the weekend, allowing temperatures to rise efficiently under full sunshine. A pattern change arrives early next week, with slightly cooler air expected, though additional updates are likely as record-breaking potential continues to increase.
