Baltimore, Maryland – Patchy fog and periods of rain are creating damp, reduced-visibility conditions along Interstate 95 early this morning, with additional rounds of showers expected through Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, areas of fog developed before sunrise, especially across northeastern Maryland. Visibility may briefly drop below one mile along I-95 between Baltimore and the Delaware state line, as well as on I-83 north toward York. Conditions should gradually improve by midmorning.

Clouds will dominate much of today, with occasional showers moving through central Maryland and northern Virginia. Highs will range from the upper 40s in cooler northern spots to the mid-60s closer to Washington and Annapolis. Wet pavement may slow traffic along I-495 and US-50 during heavier bursts of rain.

Warmer air builds in Thursday and Friday, with highs climbing into the 70s and even near 80 degrees in parts of the region by Friday afternoon. Showers remain possible, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. The contrast between cooler air northeast of the front and warmer air southwest of it could lead to shifting conditions across short distances.

Drivers should allow extra stopping distance on rain-slick roads and watch for sudden slowdowns during peak commute hours.

Unsettled weather continues through Friday night, and additional advisories may be issued if rainfall becomes steadier or heavier later this week.
