Wisconsin drivers are creeping through a wall of gray this morning as freezing fog locks visibility down to a quarter mile across Milwaukee. Headlights glow in the mist along I-94 and I-43, and untreated bridges feel slick under tires as temperatures hover near 27 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST for Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, and Waukesha counties. Visibility may drop to one-quarter mile or less at times. Patchy freezing fog could create isolated slick spots, especially on overpasses and less-traveled roads.
At Mitchell International Airport, visibility has been reported at just 0.25 miles with calm winds and saturated air. That combination allows moisture to cling to pavement and refreeze. Slow down, increase following distance, and use low beams through mid-morning.
Conditions gradually improve later today as fog thins and partial sunshine develops. Highs reach near 45 degrees. Clouds return tonight, and rain becomes likely toward daybreak Thursday. Rain chances increase to 80 percent Thursday, with highs in the lower 40s.
A steadier round of rain arrives Friday. Highs climb near 59 degrees before cooler air slips back in Friday night. Saturday trends drier with a slight chance of lingering rain early, then gradual clearing and highs near 49.
Early next week brings a stronger spring signal. Sunshine pushes highs into the upper 50s Sunday and lower 60s Monday. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures, hinting at building spring warmth.
Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. We gain evening daylight and nearly 90 extra minutes of sun this month across Wisconsin.
