Los Angeles, California – Drivers along Interstate 5 at Tejon Pass and residents in the Santa Monica Mountains should prepare now for damaging winds that could down trees and cut power starting Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a High Wind Watch is in effect for multiple mountain and coastal مناطق beginning Wednesday and lasting into Thursday or Friday, depending on location. North to northwest winds of 25 to 45 mph are expected, with gusts ranging from 60 to 65 mph in the most wind-prone areas.

The strongest gusts may impact the Interstate 5 Corridor near Gorman and Pyramid Lake from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning. In the San Gabriel Mountains and along Highway 14, including Acton and Wrightwood, gusts up to 65 mph are possible from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Along the Malibu Coast and in the Santa Monica Mountains, gusts up to 60 mph could develop late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

High-profile vehicles may struggle on exposed roadways. Residents should secure outdoor furniture, charge devices and prepare for possible power outages.

Warnings may replace the watch as confidence increases. Winds are expected to ease gradually by Friday.
