Oregon’s Willamette Valley starts the morning under a thick gray ceiling, with 45 degrees showing at Mahlon Sweet Field and damp air hanging over Eugene. The pavement is mostly dry for now, but clouds are lowering and rain is lining up for later today.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, rain chances increase to 40 percent by midafternoon, with steadier rain developing this evening. Highs reach near 57 degrees before temperatures slip back into the mid-40s tonight.

By Wednesday, rain becomes widespread with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Showers develop early, and a possible afternoon thunderstorm could briefly intensify rainfall. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half inch are possible, especially in heavier bursts. Expect ponding on roadways and slower travel along I-5 and Beltline Highway.

Rain continues Wednesday night and into Thursday, when highs hold near 50 degrees. Another round of rain is likely Thursday before conditions ease slightly Friday, though scattered showers remain in the picture with highs near 52.

While mountain snow spreads across the Cascades and Rockies midweek, valley floors stay rain-focused. No snow is expected in Eugene, but higher elevations will see winter-like impacts.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer evenings are coming, even if clouds dominate for now.

Early signals into next week hint at slightly milder air, with highs nearing 60 by the weekend and into early next week.

Five Day Outlook for Eugene, Oregon:
Wednesday: Rain, high 50.
Thursday: Rain, high 50.
Friday: Chance of rain, high 52.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy, high 60.
Sunday: Slight chance of rain, high 60.
