Louisiana sunshine is already warming patios and parking lots across Lake Charles, and the air feels more like late April than early March. Temperatures sit at 63 degrees at Lake Charles Regional Airport after 9 a.m., with light southeast winds and increasing humidity.

According to the National Weather Service, highs climb to 79 degrees today as skies turn mostly sunny. Winds shift south this afternoon at 5 to 10 mph, keeping conditions mild along I-10 and Highway 14. Travel remains smooth with dry pavement and strong visibility.

Monday holds onto that early spring warmth. Highs reach 77 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday turns even warmer, topping out near 80 degrees with gusts up to 25 mph. That breeze may ruffle lake waters and make high-profile vehicles along the interstate work a little harder.

By Wednesday, moisture increases. A 30% chance of showers develops after midday with highs near 81 degrees. Rain chances linger into Thursday at 20%, but temperatures push to 82 degrees. It’s a classic Gulf Coast March setup: warmth first, then scattered showers.

We are also entering the brighter stretch of the year. Nearly 70 additional minutes of daylight build through March. Clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. March 8, giving Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana longer evenings just as this warm spell peaks.

The 6–10 day outlook favors continued above-normal temperatures across the Gulf Coast, with periodic shower chances.

Five Day Outlook for Lake Charles, Louisiana:
Monday: High 77, mostly sunny.
Tuesday: High 80, mostly sunny and breezy.
Wednesday: High 81, 30% chance of showers.
Thursday: High 82, slight shower chance.
Friday: High 83, 30% chance of showers.
