Oregon greets the morning with a sharp chill and bright sun glinting off frosty fields outside Pendleton. Temperatures sit at 32 degrees at Eastern Oregon Regional Airport, and wind chills hover in the upper 20s. Any damp surface could turn slick early, especially on shaded stretches of US-395.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, highs climb to 55 degrees today under mostly cloudy skies with light north wind. A slight 20% chance of rain develops after 10 p.m., but most daylight hours stay dry.

Monday continues the warming trend. Highs reach 58 degrees with gradual clearing in the afternoon. By Tuesday, temperatures surge to 62 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, signaling a brief taste of spring warmth across Umatilla County.

The pattern shifts again by midweek. Rain chances jump to 40% Tuesday night, then spike to 90% Wednesday with highs near 55 degrees. Wet pavement and steady showers could slow travel through town and along Interstate 84. Plan extra braking distance and watch for ponding in low spots.

While valley temperatures remain above freezing during the day, early mornings near 32 degrees raise the seasonal risk of flash freezing where moisture lingers. That freeze-thaw cycle often increases collisions this time of year.

We gain nearly 70 extra minutes of daylight during March, and clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. March 8. Longer evenings pair with a milder 6–10 day outlook, which favors above-normal temperatures across much of the Northwest.

Five Day Outlook for Pendleton, Oregon:
Monday: High 58, gradual afternoon clearing.
Tuesday: High 62, mostly cloudy.
Wednesday: High 55, rain likely.
Thursday: High 52, chance of rain.
Friday: High 54, slight chance of rain.
