Las Vegas, NV – A Wind Advisory has been issued for large portions of Central Nevada and parts of southeastern California on Monday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. PT, according to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.
The advisory includes Death Valley, the Western Mojave Desert, and the Morongo Basin in California, as well as Esmeralda, Lincoln, and Central Nye counties in Nevada. Forecasters warn of west to southwest wind gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph, which could produce blowing dust, strong crosswinds, and lofted debris throughout the afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service, motorists—especially those driving high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution on Interstate 15, U.S. 95, and desert highways where visibility may be reduced. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects and prepare for possible power disruptions due to strong gusts.
Winds are expected to weaken overnight Monday into early Tuesday, though lingering dust and limited visibility could persist in some valleys.
