Orlando, Florida – Beachgoers and boaters across Central Florida are facing a double threat today as strong storms and life-threatening rip currents remain in place through 6 p.m. Saturday. Winds up to 45 mph, 3–4 foot surf, and a high risk of rip currents are expected to make conditions especially dangerous along the Atlantic coast.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a lingering swell is fueling strong ocean currents from Daytona Beach to Jupiter Inlet. A small craft advisory remains in effect offshore, where seas are building between 4 and 6 feet. All inlets are flagged for hazard, especially during outgoing tides.

Inland, storms are likely from late morning into early evening, with coverage around 80% in cities like Orlando, Melbourne, and Vero Beach. Flash flooding and isolated wind damage may occur, especially during intense downpours.

Officials urge swimmers to stay out of the ocean and boaters to check marine conditions before heading out. Life jackets and working safety gear are strongly recommended for anyone on the water.

Hazardous surf and stormy skies are expected to continue into Sunday. Additional alerts may be issued if conditions worsen overnight.
