Green Bay, WI – Severe storms could spin up tornadoes before 8 p.m. Friday, putting travel and evening plans at risk across a large stretch of central and northeast Wisconsin.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, Tornado Watch 129 remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT for 10 counties, including Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, Marathon, and Portage. The watch signals conditions are favorable for tornado development, along with damaging winds and large hail.
Cities in the highest alert zone include Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids. Key travel routes such as I-41, U.S. 10, and Highway 29 could see rapidly changing conditions during the evening commute. Brief tornadoes, wind gusts over 60 mph, and reduced visibility in heavy rain are possible.
Residents are urged to charge devices, review shelter plans, and be ready to move indoors quickly if warnings are issued. Outdoor activities should be postponed, especially near open areas or mobile homes.
