Phoenix, Arizona – Temperatures across the Phoenix metro are set to soar past 110°F by Friday, creating a moderate HeatRisk for much of central and southern Arizona through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, daily highs will rise from 97–105°F mid-week to between 105–113°F by Thursday through Sunday. Overnight lows are expected to stay in the mid-70s to low 80s in the Phoenix metro, with slightly cooler temps in surrounding areas.

The risk is most pronounced in lower desert communities, including Phoenix, Mesa, and Glendale, where prolonged exposure could cause heat-related illness—especially for vulnerable populations like outdoor workers, young children, and older adults. Officials recommend avoiding strenuous activity between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., staying hydrated, and wearing light-colored, breathable clothing.

This marks one of the hottest stretches so far this summer and comes with a reminder that cooling resources should be accessible, especially in homes without air conditioning. The Valley has seen similar early-season heat waves in recent years, but this round is expected to persist longer than average.

Heat alerts may be updated later this week if conditions worsen.
