Tulsa, Oklahoma – Roads across eastern Oklahoma could quickly flood late Wednesday as repeated rounds of thunderstorms bring heavy rainfall into the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a marginal risk for excessive rainfall is in place through Wednesday, with a 5 to 15 percent chance of flash flooding, especially along and east of a Bartlesville-to-Bristow line. Storms are expected to redevelop Wednesday evening and continue into the overnight hours, increasing the risk for localized downpours.
Tulsa, Bartlesville, Muskogee, and surrounding communities could see multiple waves of rain, with brief heavy bursts reducing visibility and covering low-lying roads. Emergency officials warn that even minor flooding can make travel dangerous, particularly on rural routes and underpasses.
Farther south, into southeast Oklahoma and toward the Ark-La-Tex region, isolated strong storms may also develop Wednesday night, bringing gusty winds alongside the heavy rain.
Another round of more organized severe weather is already being signaled for Friday afternoon and evening, with both storm hazards and additional rainfall possible.
Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways, monitor alerts, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. More advisories are likely as storm timing and rainfall totals become clearer through midweek.
