WHARTON, TX — In a major blow to illegal narcotics trafficking, a joint drug interdiction operation spearheaded by Sergeant Randy Thumann of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and his K9 partner “Kolt,” alongside the Wharton Police Department, has led to the seizure of 100 kilos of cocaine.
According to Police Department reports, the drugs, with an estimated street value of a staggering $10 million, were ingeniously hidden in a heavy machinery trailer. The routine stop on a Texas interstate turned into a significant victory for law enforcement, with agencies including Texas DPS uniting to keep these drugs off the street.
The successful operation was attributed to the vigilant officers involved: Sergeant Justin Pannell and Officer Davon Ramirez from Wharton PD, and the Texas DPS. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office expressed its gratitude to all law enforcement agencies involved and to Strouhal Tire for their crucial support during the operation on Tuesday.
The confiscation of these narcotics marks a critical interception of illegal substances destined to impact the nation. The collaborative effort highlights the tireless work and dedication of our local heroes in law enforcement.
