Longtown, OK – An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was injured Tuesday morning after a patrol vehicle rolled over multiple times during an emergency response in Pittsburg County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:00 a.m. on May 4, 2026, along State Highway 9 near SH-9A in the Longtown area. Troopers say the officer was responding to an earlier injury collision involving an overturned dump truck, traveling with lights and sirens activated.
Authorities say the trooper was attempting to pass a vehicle on the left when that vehicle turned into a private driveway, leading to a collision. The impact caused the patrol unit to leave the roadway and roll several times before coming to rest upright in a grassy ditch.
The trooper was pinned inside the vehicle for approximately 15 minutes before being extricated by emergency crews. He was airlifted to a Tulsa-area hospital in stable condition and later released the same evening, according to officials.
The driver of the other vehicle involved sustained minor injuries.
Images from the scene show severe damage to the patrol unit, which appears crushed and mangled after the rollover.
The incident remains under investigation.
