Conifer, CO – A routine call turned into a delicate wildlife rescue this week after a deer became entangled in a slackline course in a wooded area of Jefferson County.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened in Conifer, where the deer was found struggling after getting wrapped in the line. Animal Control Officers Bennett, McMullen, and Rupe responded to the scene and worked carefully to free the animal.
Officials say the officers used garden loppers and a steady approach to cut away the material while keeping the deer as calm as possible. Body camera footage shows the deer restrained briefly as responders worked to remove the tangled line from its body and legs.
The rescue required patience and coordination to avoid injuring the animal. Authorities confirmed the deer was successfully freed without harm and released back into the surrounding area.
The sheriff’s office highlighted the moment as an example of the type of calls animal control officers regularly handle, noting that not all emergencies involve sirens but still require skill and precision.
Residents are reminded to be mindful of outdoor equipment like slacklines or netting, which can pose risks to wildlife if left unattended.
