Cheyenne, Wyo. – After a prolonged stretch of dry spring days, Wyoming is finally set to receive a welcome round of moisture starting Wednesday morning, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a more active weather pattern will develop midweek, bringing much-needed rain to areas parched by recent dry conditions. Rainfall totals between 0.25 and 0.75 inch are possible from Wednesday through Saturday morning, with heavier bands likely in southeastern counties such as Kimball, Torrington, and Wheatland.

Cities including Cheyenne, Laramie, and Casper may see wet roads and localized ponding during morning and evening commutes. Thunderstorm activity could intensify by late Wednesday, prompting possible travel delays and slick driving conditions along I-80 and I-25. Residents are encouraged to slow down on wet roads and clear storm drains if safe to do so.

This system marks one of the more significant moisture events in recent weeks and could help ease short-term fire weather concerns, particularly across southern Wyoming.

Rain chances are expected to taper off Saturday morning, but more unsettled weather could follow into early next week. Stay tuned for updated alerts and rainfall totals throughout the week.
