Iron County, WI – Lake effect snow is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across Iron County, Wisconsin, into Tuesday morning. Northern areas of the county, including the tribal lands of the Lac du Flambeau Band, could see up to six inches of snow.

The National Weather Service in Duluth issued a Winter Weather Advisory, which remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST Tuesday. According to the advisory, total snow accumulations will range from up to two inches in southern areas to between two and six inches in northern Iron County.

Drivers should anticipate slippery roads and reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions could significantly impact Tuesday morning commutes. Officials urge motorists to slow down, drive cautiously, and check updated road conditions by calling 511 or visiting 511wi.gov.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-20s overnight before dropping further into Tuesday morning. Wind patterns across the Great Lakes are fueling the lake effect snow, which will taper off mid-morning as winds shift.

This advisory serves as a reminder for residents to prepare for winter weather. Travelers should ensure their vehicles are equipped with winter essentials, including an ice scraper, extra warm clothing, and an emergency kit.

For additional weather updates, residents can visit the National Weather Service website or stay tuned to local forecasts.
