Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for several northern Michigan counties until 7 a.m. Tuesday. Residents can expect total overnight snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches.
The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Gaylord, affects Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego counties. According to the NWS, some areas may see locally higher snow totals. Snowfall will make roads slippery, especially during the Tuesday morning commute.
Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution while driving. The hazardous conditions could lead to delays during peak travel times, particularly in residential and school zones.
The snow began accumulating late Monday evening and is expected to continue through the night. Low temperatures and wind may create additional challenges, including reduced visibility in some areas.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and check local advisories for road closures or delays. Those traveling early Tuesday morning should allow extra time and consider alternate routes.
The NWS advises people to slow down on icy or snow-covered roads and keep emergency supplies in vehicles. Snow is expected to taper off after 7 a.m., but roads may remain icy through midday.
