Green Bay, WI — Temperatures across Green Bay are set to plunge as 2025 kicks off, with colder air dominating the region this week. Residents should prepare for icy conditions and significant temperature drops, especially as New Year’s Day brings highs in the 20s.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will close out slightly above normal with highs reaching the upper 30s. However, starting Wednesday, New Year’s Day, a strong northwesterly flow will usher in Arctic air, driving temperatures below freezing. Highs are expected to hover near 28°F, while nighttime lows will drop to around 12°F. Winds gusting up to 15 mph will make it feel even colder.
Scattered snow showers are possible through Tuesday night, with light accumulations that could create slick spots on roads like I-43 and Highway 41. Drivers should exercise caution during the morning and evening commutes, as reduced visibility and icy patches are likely.
The extended forecast shows continued cold temperatures throughout the week. Thursday’s high will struggle to reach 24°F, with lows dipping into the single digits by Friday morning. Sunshine is expected to return by the weekend, but frigid conditions will persist, with highs only near 20°F on Saturday.
Bundle up and limit outdoor exposure, especially during nighttime hours when temperatures will drop sharply. Residents are advised to keep emergency kits in their vehicles and monitor local weather updates for any changes.
