Wisconsin commuters stepped into a sharp 17-degree chill this morning, with frost clinging to windshields and breath visible in the air. Calm winds offer little relief, and side streets in Milwaukee remain slick where melting refroze before sunrise.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, highs climb to near 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Southwest winds increase to 10 mph late this morning. That rebound will soften snowbanks and create damp pavement by afternoon.

Drivers should stay alert after sunset. This is prime flash-freeze season across southeast Wisconsin. Any standing water can refreeze quickly as temperatures fall to around 31 tonight.

A noticeable warm surge arrives Friday. Highs jump to 56 degrees with gusts up to 30 mph. Snowmelt accelerates, and runoff may pool along I-94 and I-43 ramps. Plan for changing road conditions late day as temperatures drop back into the 20s Friday night.

Saturday brings the next weather maker. Clouds thicken, and a 50 percent chance of snow develops mainly during the afternoon. Highs hold near 31 degrees. Light accumulations are possible, especially on grassy areas. Roads could turn slushy if steadier snow bands develop.

Colder air settles in Saturday night with lows near 15 degrees. Sunday stays brisk with highs around 27 before moderating slightly Monday into the low 30s.

Looking ahead, early March trends milder. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures, signaling a gradual transition toward spring warmth after this late-winter swing.

Five Day Outlook for Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 40.
Friday: Mostly sunny, high 56.
Saturday: Chance of snow, high 31.
Sunday: Partly sunny, high 27.
Monday: Partly sunny, high 33.
