Madison, Wisconsin – Showers and isolated storms could disrupt Sunday plans across southern Wisconsin as a cold front pushes east, bringing gusty winds and hail from late morning through mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, the main window for storm activity runs between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. CDT, with the strongest storms likely from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Some cells may produce gusts up to 40 mph and hail up to a half-inch in diameter, particularly in the Madison, Janesville, and Milwaukee areas. Widespread rain is expected along the front, with a 15–30% chance of lingering scattered showers into the evening.

Drivers in Janesville, Milwaukee, and Kenosha should be alert for slick roads and brief visibility drops. Outdoor events in Jefferson and Dodge Counties may face delays. The front will reach eastern Wisconsin by early afternoon.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours, and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts.

The threat should clear by early evening, but NWS notes that additional advisories could be issued if late-day storms redevelop.
