Green Bay, WI – The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement and a Small Craft Advisory for Lake Michigan and Green Bay, warning of dangerous conditions from Thursday morning through Friday morning. High wave action and strong currents are expected to create perilous swimming conditions along Lake Michigan beaches, while hazardous conditions for small craft are anticipated on both Lake Michigan and Green Bay.

According to the advisory, beachgoers should avoid entering the water due to the risk of life-threatening currents and waves ranging from 5 to 8 feet on Lake Michigan. The Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday.

The Small Craft Advisory warns boaters of southeast winds shifting to south winds tonight, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots. Waves are expected to rise to 1 to 3 feet on Green Bay and 5 to 8 feet on Lake Michigan. Boaters are urged to exercise extreme caution and consider postponing any planned activities.
