Madison, Wis. – Much of southern and eastern Wisconsin will bake through the weekend as a heat advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday, with heat index values reaching up to 105 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, the advisory spans from Marquette and Sheboygan down to Rock and Walworth counties, including cities like Madison, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac, and Janesville. The dangerous combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures could lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable populations.

In Dane and Waukesha counties, temperatures in the mid-90s combined with dew points in the 70s are creating dangerous conditions for outdoor work and recreation. Emergency officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon sun, and check in on elderly neighbors. Schools and youth camps may adjust schedules or cancel activities.

Milwaukee’s cooling centers are open through Monday evening, and local hospitals are bracing for potential heat-related ER visits. Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks and limit exposure, per OSHA guidelines.

The heat is expected to break late Monday with a possible storm front. Until then, residents are urged to remain vigilant and take heat warnings seriously.
