La Crosse, WI – Residents of La Crosse and surrounding areas should be on alert as conditions are favorable for the development of funnel clouds this afternoon. The U.S. National Weather Service in La Crosse issued a warning, stating that from 3 to 7 p.m. today, west-central into central Wisconsin could see funnel clouds.

According to the weather service, these funnel clouds typically do not reach the ground, posing no threat to life or property. However, in the rare instance that a funnel does touch down, it can become a tornado, causing significant damage and potential injury. Residents are advised to stay alert and take shelter indoors if necessary.

As for the weekend, the forecast shows a mix of weather conditions. After today’s high of 73°F and a 35% chance of rain, Saturday promises clearer skies with a high of 80°F and sunshine. However, rain returns on Sunday with a 70% chance of showers and a high of 78°F. The rainy pattern continues into Monday, with a 50% chance of rain and temperatures around 80°F.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday bring a respite from the rain with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 80s. Despite the clear start to the week, residents should remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather information, particularly concerning today’s funnel cloud threat and potential weekend showers.
