La Vale, MD – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through early Thursday as snow and strong winds impact Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The National Weather Service reports up to 3 inches of snow expected, with localized higher totals on ridges over 3,000 feet. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph, increasing the risk of fallen trees and power outages. Snowfall rates may reach 1 inch per hour in snow squalls, and freezing drizzle is possible between steadier snowfall.

According to the advisory, slippery road conditions are expected, particularly on I-68 and US-40 near La Vale, US-50 west of New Creek, and US-250 west of Hightown. Travelers should exercise caution, especially during holiday commutes.

Precipitation will transition to snow by daybreak Wednesday, tapering off early Thursday morning. Drivers should slow down and monitor local road conditions by dialing 511 for updates.

Stay safe and prepared by securing loose items and avoiding unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.
