Beckley, WV – A winter storm warning has been issued for Western Greenbrier County, effective Friday through Friday night. The National Weather Service predicts 3-7 inches of snow for Greenbrier County and up to 3 inches for Mercer and Summers counties. Winds in the mountains could reach 45 mph, potentially causing hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for Summers and Mercer counties, where snowfall is expected to be lighter, with traces of snow possible elsewhere. These conditions could lead to slick roads and reduced visibility throughout the region.

The advisory begins early Friday morning and extends into Saturday, with the heaviest snowfall expected Friday evening. Residents are urged to prepare for travel delays and ensure access to essential supplies.

Local officials recommend limiting non-essential travel and keeping flashlights, blankets, and water in vehicles in case of emergencies.
