Omaha, NE – A winter storm is set to impact southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa this weekend, bringing heavy snow and freezing drizzle.

A Winter Weather Advisory will begin Saturday afternoon, with a Winter Storm Warning effective through Sunday evening. Snowfall is expected to range from 1 to 6 inches depending on location, with sharp variations likely due to storm path changes.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Omaha/Valley, light snow may develop early Saturday, transitioning into heavier snowfall Saturday night. Freezing drizzle remains possible, especially in central areas, creating hazardous travel conditions.

The heaviest snow is predicted for southern Nebraska and southwest Iowa on Sunday. Sub-zero wind chills, dropping as low as -20°F, will follow the storm early next week, prompting potential frostbite risks.

Drivers should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. NWS advises checking the latest forecasts frequently due to potential changes in storm intensity and timing.

Stay safe by limiting travel and dressing for extreme cold.
