According to the National Weather Service in Boise, snowfall totals could reach 4-8 inches above 6,000 feet and up to 2 inches in lower mountain valleys. Liquid precipitation is forecast at 0.25 to 0.75 inches in the mountains, with valley totals below 0.25 inches.
Gusty post-frontal winds of up to 40 mph are predicted, particularly in the Western Magic Valley. The Weiser River at Weiser is expected to crest just below the minor flood stage of 9.5 feet tonight, posing a potential flood risk for nearby areas.
Residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly when traveling in higher elevations where roads may become slick. Localized flooding could affect low-lying areas near rivers and streams.
