Albany, NY – A winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Friday for parts of Vermont and New York, with moderate snow and strong winds creating dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), impacted areas in Vermont include Bennington and Western Windham counties, while New York counties under the warning include Northern and Southern Herkimer, Hamilton, and Northern Fulton. Cities such as Bennington, Old Forge, and Little Falls are expected to see an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow, accompanied by wind gusts reaching 45 mph.

Hazardous conditions, including slippery roads and reduced visibility due to blowing snow, are expected to affect the Thursday evening commute. Strong winds may also lead to downed tree branches and localized power outages.

Travelers are urged to exercise caution, keeping an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water in their vehicles. Road condition updates can be obtained by calling 511.

The warning is set to expire early Friday morning, but residents should monitor local forecasts for any updates.
