Winnipeg Murder: Police Seek Tips in Death of Cree Nation Member

Winnipeg, MB – A 32-year-old man died following an assault on Maryland Street, according to Winnipeg Police Service. Officers responded to the 400 block at approximately 6:50 p.m. on August 20, where they discovered the man with severe injuries on the sidewalk. He received emergency care but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is investigating. The deceased has been identified as Philip Daniel Lachose, a member of the Chemawawin Cree Nation. Lachose had been residing in Winnipeg at the time of his death.
